The benefits of location sharing on social media puts an emphasis on the 'social' part by letting friends and family know where your at.
"Hey, see I am at Yougurtland! Come and join me."
But this can also say, " Hey, I am not at home! Come and steal all of my stuff."
I chose to focus my part on being aware of the location information that is posted online, especially if it advertises that one is going to be away from home. I would like to think by now that this is common knowledge, but I still see people on my feeds that post pictures and status update that detail their wonderful vacation thousands of miles away from their hometown.
For me, I know that I have wanted to let my friends know in the cities I travel to that I am going to be in town, so I'll post a status update. I will also say something about having a house sitter, too.
My advice is just to be aware of what information, especially location information, is being put out there and know that anyone can have access it to it.
